Oce 9800 Printer Drivers
To send us files which our plotter can print successfully, they first have to be saved in a language it understands.
This involves obtaining Printer Drivers or Printer Descriptions, then using Add Printer to create a virtual printer which you select when printing from your CAD program, "Printing to File", and sending to us for plotting.
This will lock in all the information — layout, fonts etc, meaning we don't actually "open" the file here, we just run it through a processing utility to produce high quality digital black & white plans.
Windows PC
To obtain the latest printer driver for your Windows CAD program to match our Oce 9800 printer/plotter, go to the Oce website http://downloads.oce.com/sdds/sddsdw.nsf/
Click on the link 'Printer Drivers'. From the Product menu select Oce 9800.
From the Title menu select a driver to match your version of AutoCAD software. For users of MiniCAD, VectorWorks and DataCAD, select 'Drivers: Oce Windows Raster Driver (9X00)'. (Note: Oce Drivers are usually automatically installed in your computer when you install the AutoCAD program — meaning AutoCAD users only need set it up in Add Printer).
Click 'Go'.
Download the driver to match your Operating System, read the instructions and download the User Manual PDF (link at the bottom of the page). Read the PDF for installation instructions, it also tells you how to Add-A-Printer, and contains information on how to get the best results.
Once installed, relaunch your CAD program and create a plot file using the new printer, and send to us.
Macintosh OS X
Click to download this printer description:
Move the file 'OCTD8005.ppd' to the folder:
[Your hard disk]\Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\Resources\en.lproj.
Open the 'Printer Setup Utility' from your Dock and select 'Add'. Select 'IP Printing'; for Printer Type select 'LPD/LPR'; for Printer Address type in 'Copybook Oce'; leave Queue Name blank. For Printer Model select 'Other' and search for 'OCTD8005.ppd' you copied into the folder 'en.lproj'
Once selected click 'Add' and after several seconds your new printer will appear in the list. Then back in your CAD program "print to file" (creates a PostScript file) using the 'Copybook Oce' printer. Ensure the file ends with ".ps", and send to us.
